Grade 12 Capstone Project Mid-Term Progress Review
Introduction: The purpose of this mid-term review is to provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate your project's current status, reflect on your process, and receive valuable feedback to guide you towards the successful completion of your final deliverable. This is not a traditional timed exam, but rather a structured progress review of your ongoing long-term project.
Part 1: Project Overview and Progress Summary (Written Report - 500-750 words)
For Part 1: Project Overview and Progress Summary, submit a written report (500-750 words) that includes:
- Updated Project Proposal: Clearly state your refined problem, research question, or creative challenge.
- Current Project Status: Provide a concise summary of your project's current status, key accomplishments to date, and a revised timeline for the remaining phases.
- Challenges and Solutions: Identify and briefly describe any significant challenges encountered and how you plan to address them.
Evaluation Criteria: Clarity of refined project scope, conciseness and accuracy of progress summary, feasibility of revised timeline, and insightfulness in identifying and addressing challenges.
For Part 2: Research Log and Annotated Bibliography (Draft), submit:
- Detailed Research Log: Include dates, methods used (e.g., interviews, surveys, database searches, experiments), and a brief summary of findings from each activity.
- Preliminary Annotated Bibliography: Include at least 8-10 significant sources. Each annotation should summarize the source's main argument or contribution and explain its relevance to your project.
- Research Gaps: Identify any remaining research gaps or areas requiring further investigation.
Evaluation Criteria: Comprehensiveness and organization of research log, quality and relevance of sources, depth and insightfulness of annotations, and clear identification of research gaps.
For Part 3: Thesis/Product Development Update (Written Draft / Visual Artifacts), submit:
For Thesis/Paper Projects:
- Detailed Outline: Include topic sentences for major sections and key arguments or evidence points.
- Draft Section: A draft of at least one full body section (e.g., Literature Review, Methodology, or a significant analytical chapter).
For Product/Creative Projects:
- Current Development Stage Description: Describe the product's current stage of development (e.g., wireframes, prototypes, script, storyboard, musical composition). Include images, sketches, or links to digital artifacts where appropriate.
- Design Choices & Next Steps: A brief explanation of design choices and next steps for development.
Evaluation Criteria: For thesis projects: clarity and logical flow of outline, depth of argumentation/evidence in draft section. For product projects: clarity of development stage, relevance and quality of artifacts, rationale for design choices, and clear next steps.
For Part 4: Public Speaking/Presentation Outline (Draft), submit:
- Preliminary Presentation Outline: Include a planned introduction, main points/sections, key visuals or multimedia you intend to use, and a concluding statement.
- Audience Engagement Strategy: Briefly describe your strategy for engaging the audience and conveying your project's significance.
- Practice Sessions: Indicate any practice sessions completed or planned.
Evaluation Criteria: Coherence and completeness of presentation outline, appropriateness of planned visuals/multimedia, thoughtfulness of audience engagement strategy, and realistic planning for practice.
For Part 5: Project Management & Reflection (Written Response), submit:
- Project Management Reflection: Reflect on your project management skills, including adherence to your initial timeline, strategies for overcoming obstacles, and areas for improvement.
- Significant Learning Experience: Describe one significant learning experience or insight gained during the first half of your Capstone project.
- Future Goals: Set 2-3 specific, measurable goals for the remaining phase of the project.
Evaluation Criteria: Depth and honesty of self-reflection on project management, insightfulness of learning experience, and clarity and measurability of future goals.
