The Robin in the Rose Bush

Maya loved her garden, a vibrant tapestry of sunflowers, buzzing bees, and fragrant lavender. She spent hours there, tending to her plants, finding peace in the quiet hum of nature. One sunny afternoon, while watering her petunias, she noticed a small robin fluttering erratically near the rose bush. Its wing was bent at an odd angle, and it chirped weakly, struggling to lift itself from the ground. A surge of empathy washed over her. Maya had always been a little wary of birds, their quick movements and sharp beaks making her nervous. Yet, seeing this tiny creature in distress, her heart ached. She knew she couldn't just leave it there.

Her first instinct was to call her dad, but he was at work. Taking a deep breath, Maya remembered seeing her older brother rescue a fledgling once. She cautiously approached the robin, its little eyes wide with fear. It tried to hop away, but its injured wing prevented any escape. Maya knelt down, extending her hand slowly. 'It's okay, little one,' she whispered, her voice trembling slightly. With a resolve she didn't know she possessed, she gently scooped up the tiny bird, cradling it in her cupped palms. Its warmth was surprisingly comforting. She knew she had to find a way to help it.
