The Lost Kite
Lily loved sunny days, especially when there was a gentle breeze. Today was perfect for flying her new kite. It was bright yellow with a long, swishy red tail. She ran to the big park behind her house, her kite bouncing behind her.
"Ready, set, go!" she shouted, and tossed the kite high into the air. The wind caught it, and it soared up, up, up! Lily held tightly to the string, laughing as the kite danced in the blue sky. It looked like a giant yellow bird.
Suddenly, a very strong gust of wind pulled hard. The string slipped from Lily's fingers! "Oh no!" she cried. The kite flew higher and higher, then drifted away over the tall trees. Lily watched sadly as her beautiful kite disappeared from sight. She felt a little tear roll down her cheek.
Just then, her friend Sam came over. "What's wrong, Lily?" he asked. Lily told him about her lost kite. Sam thought for a moment. "Maybe it landed in Mr. Peterson's big backyard. He has the tallest tree in town!"
They walked to Mr. Peterson's house. Peeking over the fence, they saw it! Her yellow kite was tangled in the very top branches of a huge oak tree. Mr. Peterson, who was watering his flowers, saw them. "Did someone lose a kite?" he asked with a smile. Lily nodded. Mr. Peterson found a very long pole and carefully, slowly, untangled the kite. Lily hugged her kite tightly. She was so happy!

All About Bees
Bees are amazing insects that live all over the world. They are known for flying from flower to flower. But why do they do this? Bees collect a sweet liquid called nectar from flowers. They also gather yellow powder called pollen on their fuzzy bodies. Nectar and pollen are food for bees, and they take them back to their hive.
A bee hive is like a busy city! Most bees in a hive are worker bees. They are all female bees and have many jobs. Some worker bees build honeycomb, which is a waxy structure with many small, hexagon-shaped cells. Bees store honey and pollen in these cells. Other worker bees clean the hive, guard the entrance, or take care of the baby bees.
One very important bee in the hive is the queen bee. She is usually the largest bee and her main job is to lay eggs. All the other bees in the hive are her children. Male bees are called drones, and they do not have stingers. Their main job is to help the queen lay more eggs.
When bees collect nectar and pollen, they also help flowers grow. As they fly from flower to flower, they carry pollen from one plant to another. This helps plants make seeds and new flowers. Without bees, many plants would not be able to grow fruits and vegetables! That's why bees are so important to our world.
